Overview

This study compared the effectiveness of intranasal nafarelin acetate and oral danazol in 49 patients with endometriosis. Both treatments effectively reduced endometriosis severity (60-70% reduction) and did not affect adhesions. While both drugs suppressed estrogen levels, nafarelin caused a temporary increase in estrogen initially. Nafarelin also suppressed LH and slightly lowered other hormones, while danazol slightly increased FSH and LH. Pregnancy rates were higher after nafarelin treatment (12/22) compared to danazol (6/14). Both treatments had similar rates of side effects, with hot flushes being more common with nafarelin, and bleeding being more common with danazol.
