This study reviewed the literature on treatments for seasonal allergic rhinitis (hayfever). Sodium cromoglicate was found to be effective, especially for preventing symptoms. Nasal steroids, particularly beclometasone, were also effective but had more side effects. Oral antihistamines were less effective than nasal steroids and caused drowsiness.
