Overview

Treating latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) is essential for reducing the spread of tuberculosis (TB). However, treatment adherence rates are consistently low in the United States and Canada. This systematic review of 78 studies found that adherence and completion rates for LTBI treatment are suboptimal across high-risk groups. While several interventions have been developed to improve adherence, no single intervention has shown consistent effectiveness. This highlights the need for innovative approaches to improve LTBI treatment adherence and ensure successful TB elimination.
