Overview

A 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 74 obese patients assessed the efficacy and safety of a newly developed phentermine diffuse-controlled release (DCR) formulation. The phentermine DCR group exhibited significant reductions in body weight (-8.1 kg vs. -1.7 kg) and waist circumference (7.2 cm vs. 2.1 cm) compared to placebo. Additionally, total cholesterol and LDL-C levels improved significantly in the phentermine DCR group. While dry mouth and insomnia were the most common adverse events, they were mild to moderate and transient.
