Overview

Twenty-three patients with metastatic breast carcinoma were treated with a complex chemotherapy regimen. Eighteen patients achieved complete remission (78%). Consolidation radiotherapy was associated with fewer relapses at treated sites. Side effects were commensurate with the intensity of treatment. The study suggests that additional therapeutic approaches are needed to extend remission duration.
