Overview

Asthma attacks are a common reason for children to be hospitalized. While corticosteroids are important for treating these attacks, the standard 5-day course of prednisone or prednisolone can be difficult for children to take due to taste and vomiting. Some hospitals use a shorter course of dexamethasone, but there is no strong evidence to support this practice in hospitalized children. This study aims to investigate the use of dexamethasone for treating children with asthma in the hospital.
