Overview

Cefotetan, a cephamycin resistant to bacterial beta-lactamase, was tested for its in vitro activity against Neisseria gonorrhoeae and clinical efficacy in uncomplicated gonorrhea. 90% of the strains were inhibited by 0.5 micrograms/ml of cefotetan. A single 1g intramuscular injection cured 92.3% of 52 patients.
