This prospective multicentre cohort study compared the efficacy and safety of telbivudine (LdT) and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) in preventing mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of hepatitis B virus (HBV) during the second to third trimester. Both treatments were well tolerated and demonstrated comparable efficacy in reducing MTCT, with higher risk of transmission associated with higher HBsAg titres.
