Overview

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affects 8-13% of women of childbearing age and can make it difficult to get pregnant. While newer guidelines recommend a medication called letrozole as the first treatment, it's not officially approved for this condition, so a medication called clomiphene citrate (CC) is still commonly used. About 20% of women don't ovulate while taking CC. For those who don't respond, other medications or surgery (laparoscopic ovarian drilling, LOD) can be used, but these have risks and can be challenging.
