Global Prevalence of Antibiotic-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and methicillin-resistant coagulase-negative Staphylococcus (MRCoNS) are major causes of nosocomial infections. The emergence of antibiotic resistance in these bacteria has posed significant challenges for treating infections. This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the global prevalence of resistance to newer antibiotics, including linezolid, tigecycline, daptomycin, and quinupristin/dalfopristin (Q/D), in S. aureus, MRSA, and CoNS.

The study found that the prevalence of resistance to these newer antibiotics, while generally lower than resistance to older antibiotics, is increasing in various regions globally.
