Overview

This study investigated the effects of Tanshinones, compounds found in Salvia miltiorrhiza, on the treatment of mastitis. Tanshinone I and Tanshinone IIA/B significantly reduced MPO activity and inflammatory cytokine levels in both animal and cell models of mastitis. They also attenuated LPS-induced cell death and NF-κB activation. These results suggest that Tanshinones have potential as a therapeutic agent for treating mastitis.
