Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) has shown to be an effective treatment for chronic insomnia, including for individuals with HF. However, ensuring treatment fidelity – that the therapy is delivered accurately and consistently – is crucial to maintain the validity and reliability of any study. This research focused on applying the National Institutes of Health Behavioral Change Consortium framework to ensure adequate treatment fidelity in a randomized controlled trial of CBT-I for people with stable HF.
CBT-I: A Proven Approach for Insomnia
The research found that most participants completed the CBT-I intervention and followed-up assessments, attending each group or make-up session. They also correctly calculated their sleep efficiency and completed their homework assignments.
