A systematic review and meta-analysis of 45 studies on preventive treatment for refractory chronic cluster headache (rCCH) found that occipital nerve stimulation (ONS) had a pooled response rate of 57.3% (95% CI 0.481-0.665). Deep brain stimulation (DBS) had a higher pooled response rate of 77.0% (95% CI 0.594-0.957) but also more serious adverse events. Other therapies showed weaker results or had less quality of evidence.
