Overview

Penbutolol, a long-acting non-selective beta-adrenoceptor blocking agent, was found to be effective in treating primary hypertension in 23 patients. The drug significantly reduced blood pressure in 18 patients, but side effects such as dermatitis and elevated liver enzymes were observed.
