Overview

Re-Du-Qing, a Chinese medicine, effectively inhibited human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) activity both in vitro and in vivo. It suppressed HCMV-mRNA expression and cytopathic effect (CPE). Re-Du-Qing also normalized serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) in HCMV-IgM positive patients, suggesting an immune-enhancing effect.
