Stiripentol is an anti-epileptic drug used to treat drug-resistant epilepsy, including Dravet syndrome. , 18 Studies have shown that stiripentol can reduce the frequency of seizures in patients with Dravet syndrome. 7 Stiripentol has also been shown to have neuroprotective effects by inhibiting the activity of neurons that trigger seizures. 3 Stiripentol can interact with other anti-epileptic drugs, which may change the blood concentration of stiripentol and increase the risk of side effects. 19 , 2

This network meta-analysis compared the efficacy and tolerability of four antiseizure medications (ASMs) for the treatment of Dravet syndrome (DS). Stiripentol showed a higher seizure response rate than cannabidiol, and a lower rate of discontinuation due to any reason. Cannabidiol was associated with a lower rate of adverse events (AEs) than fenfluramine. Overall, the study found high-quality evidence of efficacy and tolerability of these ASMs in the treatment of seizures in DS.
