Multiple studies have shown that strontium-89 chloride (89SrCl2) is an effective treatment for pain relief from bone metastases. 9 , 19 , 6 , 10 , 24 , 3 , , 2 , 18 , 4 , 17 , , 13 , 27 , 28 , 15 , 22 , 5 , 21 , , 1 , 20 , 23 , 12 , 14 , 29 , 7 , 11 , 25 , 26 These studies reported that the administration of 89SrCl2 reduced pain from bone metastases and improved the quality of life of patients. It has also been suggested that 89SrCl2 may slow the progression of bone metastases. 3 18 15 20 23 14 29 7 25 26 However, 89SrCl2 can cause side effects such as myelosuppression. 10 3 17 14 26 Therefore, the administration of 89SrCl2 should be carefully considered according to the condition of each patient.
