Major Research Findings

There have been significant advancements in the treatment of ischemic stroke, with new therapies constantly being developed. Among them, endovascular treatment has shown effectiveness in reducing the size of the infarct and promoting functional recovery compared to conventional drug therapy. However, endovascular treatment is not suitable for everyone, and it is crucial to select appropriate patients and provide treatment at the right time. 19

In recent years, the scope of endovascular treatment has expanded, and its effectiveness has been recognized even for patients with milder symptoms. Moreover, advancements in endovascular treatment technology have made it safer and more effective. 61

Treatment for ischemic stroke involves various methods, including drug therapy, endovascular treatment, and surgery. The specific treatment method is chosen based on the patient's symptoms, location and size of the infarct, age, and any coexisting conditions. 7
