Several studies suggest that yellow fever vaccine is an effective way to prevent yellow fever. 21 It is also possible to be vaccinated against other viruses at the same time. 24 Yellow fever vaccine is effective in controlling the spread of yellow fever. 14 Some studies have also investigated the safety and efficacy of the vaccine in specific populations, such as infants. 1 In addition, research on the effectiveness of fractional dose yellow fever vaccination compared to the standard dose vaccination is ongoing. 3 However, the use of the yellow fever vaccine is contraindicated in immunosuppressed patients. 21 In addition, some studies have suggested that the use of the yellow fever vaccine can cause serious neurological complications. 6 20 17 It is also important to note that the yellow fever vaccine is grown in embryonated eggs, which poses a risk to people with egg allergies. 11 22 New research is also underway to develop next generation live-attenuated yellow fever vaccines. 12 13 In addition, the duration of protection provided by yellow fever vaccine has been investigated. 4 Another major finding is that autoantibodies against type I interferons (IFNs) can underlie critical influenza pneumonia and yellow fever vaccine disease. 9 It is also important to note that a study investigating the relationship between vaccine hesitancy and yellow fever vaccine has been conducted. 5
