Major Research Findings

Multiple studies have shown that perindopril is an effective treatment for high blood pressure. 6 found that perindopril 8mg once daily significantly reduced ambulatory blood pressure and increased forearm blood flow in hypertensive patients after six weeks of treatment. 8 compared the efficacy of perindopril 8mg once daily plus nifedipine SR 10mg twice daily to perindopril 8mg once daily plus hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg once daily. Both groups showed significant blood pressure reduction after one month, but no significant difference between the two groups. 1 found that perindopril was as effective as atenolol in reducing blood pressure and was well-tolerated. 7 compared the efficacy of perindopril to captopril, atenolol, and a diuretic combination (hydrochlorothiazide + amiloride).
