Major Research Findings

Isradipine is a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension. Several studies have shown that isradipine is effective in improving hypertension. Furthermore, the sustained-release formulation of isradipine has been shown to have higher bioavailability and fewer fluctuations in plasma levels, potentially leading to fewer side effects compared to the standard formulation. 23

Isradipine may be a safe and effective treatment option for pregnant women with hypertension, with potential benefits for both mother and fetus. 17

Isradipine may positively impact platelet function, potentially reducing platelet deposition on atherosclerotic lesions and prolonging platelet survival in patients with hypertension and active atherosclerotic lesions. 14

Isradipine may be better tolerated than amlodipine in patients with mild-to-moderate hypertension, with a lower rate of reported adverse events. 21

Isradipine may be effective in controlling blood pressure in elderly hypertensive women without significantly impacting their quality of life. 22
