Major Research Findings

Zolmitriptan is a 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist widely used for the treatment of migraine. These studies investigate various formulations and routes of administration of zolmitriptan, as well as its effects and safety.

Zolmitriptan has been shown to be effective for the acute treatment of migraine in several studies. 10 , 5 It helps reduce migraine symptoms and improve patients' ability to perform normal activities. 13 Additionally, zolmitriptan can be effectively administered through new routes such as transdermal microarrays, which may offer faster drug absorption and bioavailability. 6

Zolmitriptan is a drug used for migraine treatment, but side effects have been reported. These studies report side effects such as vasoconstriction, coronary vasospasm, and visual disturbances caused by zolmitriptan. 19 , 11 , 18 These side effects may depend on the route of administration and dosage of zolmitriptan. 1 Zolmitriptan may also pose greater risks for people with heart disease or other health problems. 17
